By 22:00 on November 21, 2019, the power generation task of shangmasondi a hydropower station in Nepal, funded and developed by PowerChina Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., will be completed 40 days ahead of schedule.
As a result, the total generating capacity of the hydropower station in 2019 will reach 320 million kwh. Since the first unit was put into operation, the hydropower station has generated 1.06 billion kilowatt hours of power and 1177 days of safe production.
Nepal shangmashangdi a hydropower station is a joint venture agreement signed by China Power Construction Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. (with 90% shares) and Nepal sagmata Power Co., Ltd. (with 10% shares), which is funded and developed in the form of boot (construction, ownership, operation and transfer).
The total installed capacity of the hydropower station is 50MW, which is the first project developed, constructed and operated by Chinese enterprises in Nepal, and also the first hydropower station in the history of hydropower construction in Nepal to achieve early power generation.
Shangmasondi a hydropower station provides long-term and stable power for Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and Pokhara, a famous tourist city. About 60% of the electricity generated is delivered to Kathmandu, while the rest 40% is delivered to Pokhara. Generally speaking, the power generation capacity of shangmashandia hydropower station can satisfy about 4.6% of the domestic electricity demand of Nepal.
