On August 2, 2019, Sany Heavy energy successfully shortlisted the first batch of 200MW wind power projects in Tanzania. On December 10, Sany Heavy Energy International Department and the new Jeddah regional government of Tanzania officially signed an investment agreement for 600MW wind power, with the first phase planned for 100MW.
The flat terrain of new Jeddah provides a good foundation for the installation of wind turbines. The project plans to invest 150 million US dollars and generate 400 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which greatly alleviates the demand for electricity in Tanzania and provides low-cost solutions for the development of green industry in Tanzania. It is understood that the total installed capacity of Tanzania is 1500MW at present, and the project will reach 8% of the new power, fully responding to the appeal of President magufuli of Tanzania to adopt the concept of low electricity price and multiple energy complementary.
