The importance of regular testing of insulation oil is as follows:

① Ensure the safe operation of transformers

The transformer insulation oil test can identify potential problems in the insulation oil and take timely measures to ensure the safe operation of the transformer.

② Extend the service life of transformers

The insulation oil test of transformers can detect problems such as pollutants and moisture content in the insulation oil, and timely replace and filter the insulation oil, thereby extending the service life of transformers.

③ Improve the operational efficiency of transformers

By analyzing the gas content and dielectric loss factors in insulation oil through experiments, timely measures are taken to reduce gas content and dielectric loss, thereby improving the operational efficiency of transformers.

The steps for conducting regular tests on insulation oil are as follows:

① Clean and dry the oil test cup, standard gauge, glass rod for mixing, and glass plate for covering the oil cup.

② Take an oil sample from the sampling port of the equipment using a clean and dry oil sample bottle. The containers and bottles used for sampling should be glass bottles with ground stoppers and a capacity between 100-500mL. The sampling bottle needs to undergo strict cleaning, and after cleaning, it needs to be dried and cooled, and then the bottle mouth needs to be closed with a stopper.

③ Rinse the oil cup three times using a test oil. Use a gauge to adjust the distance between the oil cup electrodes (2.5mm). Slowly pour the test oil into the oil cup along the stirring glass rod until it is ≥ 10mm higher than the electrode. Then cover with a glass cover and let it stand for 15 minutes to allow bubbles in the oil to overflow.

④ Connect the power supply and uniformly increase the voltage at a speed of 3-5 RV/s until the oil cup electrode is broken down, then disconnect the power supply.

⑤ Gently stir the glass rod between the electrodes to remove the carbon particles generated by breakdown on the surface of the electrodes.

⑥ After stirring, let it stand for 5 minutes and apply pressure again. A total of six repetitions of breakdown are required. The first breakdown is not counted, and the average of the five breakdowns is used as the pressure resistance value for the oil test. During the test, the voltage should be increased uniformly and continuously until breakdown occurs. The breakdown current for oil testing should be controlled at around 10mA, and human fingers should not touch the oil testing
