17MW/15WMh! Wartsila provides energy storage system for Mali

:2019-12-09 17:28:36:

Recently, wrtsil, a Finnish supplier of shipping and power solutions, has agreed to supply b2gold, a Canadian gold miner, with a 17MW / 15mwh energy storage system based on gems software channels for power monitoring and optimization.

It is reported that the large battery will be used together with the 30MW solar power plant built by the mining company in fekola gold mine, Mali. The project is the largest off grid "solar energy + energy storage" project in the world. The company indicated that the energy storage system will be designed and manufactured by Wartsila to ensure the minimum levelized kilowatt hour cost (lcoe) of the mine.

Wartsila shows that the payback period for similar projects is generally short, because the fuel cost in extremely remote areas may be too high. Its gems software channel operates system assets in the best way and maximizes efficiency based on artificial intelligence and automated resolution planning, real-time and speculative data, including load demand and weather conditions.

In mid October, b2gold selected baywa R.E. and suntrace, a photovoltaic developer, to handle project planning and construction responsibilities. The "solar + energy storage" project will cut 13.1 million liters of heavy oil consumption every year.

In addition, Wartsila indicated in March that it would supply equipment to essakane solar SAS for a 15MW hybrid photovoltaic power plant in Burkina Faso.
