How to identify the degree of aging of electrical equipment?

:2023-08-10 09:03:10:

In recent years, the incidence of electrical fires has always accounted for about 21% of the total number of fires, and the causes of electrical fires include equipment aging, short circuits, overload, poor contact, etc. Among them, electrical equipment aging is the main culprit. Therefore, in order to keep electrical fires away from us, it is necessary to learn to identify the degree of aging of electrical equipment and take corresponding preventive measures.

So, how to identify the degree of aging of electrical equipment?

1. Calculate the time when the electrical equipment has been in use based on the factory date marked on the electrical equipment.

2. Conduct insulation capacity testing on electrical equipment. When the measured electrical insulation capacity drops to an unacceptable level, it can be determined that it has aged and cannot be used again. This usually requires a current and voltage meter test to obtain accurate data.

3. Observe the surface of electrical equipment. If there are phenomena such as inaccurate connection points, thread tripping, damage to the insulation protection layer, detachment of insulation support points, and abnormal odor of electrical equipment during use, it indicates that the equipment has aged and should be immediately stopped for maintenance.

4. The electrical equipment inside the building can also be determined based on the delivery time of the building. For example, when a residential building has not undergone any new renovation after purchase, its electrical wires are still the power wires from the beginning of construction. From the date of using the electrical appliances, the continuous use time of the electrical wires and the degree of electrical aging can be calculated.

5. Determine based on the environment of the electrical equipment used (including temperature, humidity, degree of chemical corrosion, and degree of current load). For example, electrical equipment used in environments with constant humidity, constant temperature, and no chemical corrosion can be used for several years or even decades more; On the contrary, if the environment is too high or the humidity is too high, and the chemical corrosion is too heavy, the electrical equipment is extremely prone to aging and damage.

6. The most effective measure to prevent electrical equipment from aging and causing fires is to promptly inspect and accurately determine the degree of aging and update it.
