What is the reason why we occasionally experience unstable or incorrect waveforms during the use of cable fault testers? Today, let's take everyone to understand the principles behind it.

The factors that affect the waveform of cable fault testers include:

① If the insulation layer material of the cable is oil-paper cable or pure cross-linked polyethylene material, the fault waveform is simple and clear; If it is polyvinyl chloride material and the wave propagation characteristics are poor due to the influence of additives, the fault waveform decays quickly and the reflection of the fault point is difficult to identify;

② Is the insulation resistance of cable faults less than 1000 ohms? When it is less than 1000 ohms, the reflection waveform of the fault point is relatively clear;

③ Does the pulse reflector have a comparison function? A pulse reflector with comparison displays both good and bad phase waveforms on the same screen, with the bifurcation point of the two waveforms being the location of the fault point;

④ Is there a T-branch cable in the tested cable. If there is, TDR partner assistance is required to apply a TDR partner's disconnection signal to the far end of the tested main cable or branch cable, so that the waveform of the fault point transmission is separated from the far end of the branch cable.
