Precautions for Using Current Boosters

When using current boosters, it is essential to follow core precautions in three areas: operating procedures, safety protection, and equipment maintenance.  Specifically:

1. Standardized Operating Procedures

Wiring must strictly match the power supply specifications. For single-phase 220V, connect to the live and neutral wires; for three-phase 380V, connect to two live wires. The output wire cross-sectional area should be configured at 5-6 A/mm², and the connectors should be polished with fine sandpaper to ensure good conductivity.

The current conversion switch must be switched in the de-energized state; operation under load is prohibited.  Avoid switching to the intermediate position, which could cause the current transformer to open-circuit.

Increase the voltage by rotating the voltage regulator handle at a constant speed. Immediately return to zero and disconnect the power after reaching the test current. Single full-load operation should not exceed 5 minutes, and the interval between two tests should be ≥10 minutes.

2. Key Safety Precautions

The equipment casing must be reliably grounded. A warning and isolation zone should be set up in the test area, and at least two people should operate the equipment to prevent electric shock or burns caused by high current.

Fire extinguishing equipment must be available on site. During temperature rise tests, a dedicated person must be on duty. If overheating of the connectors or a sudden drop in current is detected, immediately disconnect the power and investigate the cause.

Before using the equipment after a long period of disuse, the insulation resistance of the main circuit must be tested with a 500V megohmmeter. The acceptable value is ≥0.5 MΩ.

3. Adaptation to Special Environments

Considering the high temperature and humidity of Wuhan's summer climate, the equipment needs to be preheated for one hour before the experiment to prevent condensation from reducing insulation and affecting measurement accuracy.
