Common faults in current boosters can be divided into three categories: output abnormalities, operational abnormalities, and display abnormalities. The specific troubleshooting methods are as follows:
1. Output Faults and Troubleshooting
No output current: Check if the power switch is working properly and if the input voltage meets the specifications. If the AC contactor is not engaging properly, replace the coil or clean the contacts; if the output wire connector is oxidized, causing excessive contact resistance, use fine sandpaper to polish the oxidized layer and reconnect.
Insufficient output current: If the voltage regulator's carbon brush is worn too short, replace it promptly. If there is a partial short circuit in the main transformer winding, use a megohmmeter to test the coil insulation resistance; if it is below 0.5 MΩ, the coil needs to be rewound.
Unstable current output: Tighten the voltage regulator's mechanical transmission device to eliminate voltage fluctuations caused by a loose handle; if the filter capacitor is aging, replace it with a capacitor of the same specifications to improve voltage stability.
2. Operational Faults and Troubleshooting
Equipment overheating and smoking: Immediately disconnect the power and check if the ventilation openings are blocked. If the winding overheats due to continuous full-load operation for more than 5 minutes, stop the machine, cool it for 10 minutes, and then test again.
Abnormal vibration or noise: Tighten the equipment's fixing screws, check the wear of the voltage regulator bearings, and add lubricating oil or replace the bearings as needed.
Circuit breaker tripping: Check for short circuits at the output terminal, replace aging fuses, and re-close the circuit breaker after confirming that the equipment's insulation resistance meets the standards.
3. Display Faults and Troubleshooting
Ammeter pointer does not move: Check if the wiring between the ammeter and the current booster is disconnected. If the internal coil of the meter head is open-circuited, replace it with an ammeter of the same model.
Pointer deflects in the opposite direction: Swap the positive and negative terminals of the ammeter to eliminate reverse indication caused by incorrect polarity.
Pointer swings violently: Increase the filter capacitor capacity to reduce voltage pulsation, and check the grounding device to eliminate external stray current interference.
